POS software for your setup.
Check before replacing.
Planning to reuse a till, tablet, printer or card terminal? Build a compatibility checklist for your UK restaurant, café or takeaway.
Start with the equipment you already own.
POSMENTOR runs in a web browser. That does not make every device or peripheral compatible. Send the team your operating system, browser, screen size and device model, along with printer and payment-terminal details, before buying replacements.
What to check
| Equipment | Check before committing |
|---|---|
| Till or tablet | Browser, operating system, screen size, network and your intended service layout. |
| Receipt or kitchen printer | Compatible network ESC/POS printer, network reachability and an Ax Bridge host. A browser alone does not guarantee local printing. |
| Card terminal | Provider, exact model, merchant account, supported integration and pairing requirements. |
| Kitchen display | Screen, browser, power and reliable API connectivity in the kitchen. |
Card payments are provider-specific.
Review Dojo, Paymentap, SumUp and Square integrations with the team. Paymentap’s supported POSitive WebLink connection uses Ax Bridge; other providers have their own merchant and device configuration. A working standalone terminal is not proof of integrated compatibility.
Plan for connectivity.
Live web POS and kitchen updates need API connectivity. The desktop version’s cached-reading capability is not a promise of full offline ordering or card payments. Discuss your network and recovery procedure during setup.
Prepare your equipment list.
- Till and tablet models, operating systems and quantity.
- Printer models, connection types and where receipts must print.
- Terminal provider, model and existing merchant agreement.
- Number of service points and kitchen screens.
