What this policy covers
This policy explains how the POSMENTOR Recipe Cost Chrome extension processes the information you enter. It covers the extension itself, rather than the separate POSMENTOR websites and account-based services.
Information used by the calculator
The extension processes ingredient names, purchase prices, pack quantities and units, usable yield percentages, price dates, recipe and finished-product contents and quantities, and your currency preference. It uses these records to calculate and display your costs.
Processing and storage on your device
Your workspace is processed on your device and saved only in chrome.storage.local, within the Chrome profile in which you use the extension. The extension does not send these records to POSMENTOR or to third-party servers. It does not use cloud synchronisation or automatically transfer data to a POSMENTOR account.
Browser permissions
The storage permission lets the extension save and retrieve your records locally. The sidePanel permission lets it show the calculator in Chrome’s side panel.
What the extension does not track
The extension does not read the content of websites you visit, monitor your browsing history or track your activity. It contains no analytics or advertising trackers. Its code, fonts and images are included in the extension package; it does not load remote code.
JSON backups and restoring a workspace
You can choose to download a JSON backup of your workspace. Backup files are not encrypted. You control where you keep them and whether you copy or share them, so consider who can access a file before storing or sending it.
To restore a backup, you select the file and confirm that you want it to replace the current workspace. The extension does not replace your records just because you select a file. Restoring replaces the existing workspace rather than merging the two sets of records. The selected backup is processed locally, without being uploaded to POSMENTOR.
Keeping and removing records
Your saved records remain in your local Chrome profile until they are removed or the extension is uninstalled. Chrome removes the extension’s local records when you uninstall it. Downloaded backup files are separate: uninstalling the extension does not automatically delete them. You manage those files yourself. POSMENTOR does not hold a server-side copy of your workspace.
Links to POSMENTOR websites
Links to discover POSMENTOR, register or log in open a separate website. They work without attaching or transferring your ingredient, recipe or cost data. Opening a link does not connect or synchronise your workspace with a POSMENTOR account. The websites you open have their own privacy policies, which apply to your use of those sites.
How user data may be used
POSMENTOR Recipe Cost uses user data in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data use is limited to the calculator features described in this policy and the backup and restore actions you request. User data is not sold, used for advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness or make lending decisions.
